Greetings, comrades!!

This little fellow is Dimitri Schnortzkov! Even in the hottest weather, Dimitri sports his little pompom hat. Dimitri loves to spend his days waddling about, snuffling around with his big snoot.. and drinking vodka out of a color-change straw! He also likes cutting hair and knitting woolen socks for the other beasts.

In other very exciting news, we're expecting a whole litter of Owlpups!
Many of you may remember the last litter of Owlpups birthed at the enchanted cottage, almost a year ago. Owlhounds are an endangered beast and getting them to successfully breed in captivity is next to impossible, seeing as they are very partial to laying around all day in the sun eating dandelion flowers and pine cones and not doing much else.
Last year, our oldest female Owlhound, gave birth to three Owlpups, who all found new homes thanks to the Providence Art Festival. Unfortunately, by this point Big Sheila had passed the age of fertility. Our new breeding Owlhound female, Mamacita, is just now a year old and we think she's going to be a terrific mama.

If any of you are interested in adopting an Owlpup, visit us at the Providence Art Festival this Saturday on Westminster Street! We'll have baby Owlpups, contests, goodies, and a whole slew of new beasts to meet! Plus you can come meet the Beast Peddler (me!) and the Prince of Plants! It's going to be a huge party, so come down and hang out!

Oh hi!
The Beast Peddler here with a very adorable addition to the herd-
Mary J. Moonsmoke! She's small, spotted, and has a large cloud of mysterious fog escaping from her mouth! Awesome, right?

Now, usually when Hagatha brings the beasts to life, there is a bit of smoke involved. Candles, incense burning, Italian wedding soup cooking in the cauldron, the regular culprits. But the day that Mary was awakened, there was an awful lot of smoke. It curled out of Hagatha's eyes, out of her fingertips and out of her mouth and it filled up the little beast's body. But then it just kept streaming out! The beasts all coughed and used their furry forelimbs to cover their eyes as they scrambled out of the cottage. From in the yard, they watched as the smoke seeped out from underneath the door, out through the chimney, and out of all the cracks in the woodwork. Then, as soon as it came, it was gone. All the smoke in the cottage rushed back into Mary's body and she stood up, peering around. The strange smoke never poured out of Hagatha's mouth again, but now whenever Mary exhales, a little puff of smoke comes out instead of breath.

We're still gearing up for the Providence Art Festival over at the enchanted cottage. I'm sewing away, Hagatha is chanting and summoning into the early hours, and the Prince of Plants is coming up with the greatest ever names for the beasts.

Stay tuned for more beasties soon!

A ghost in the backyard, floating around the patio

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Greetings!

Exciting news from The Beast Peddler! Come June 4th, we'll be packing up the cart and venturing down to Providence for the Providence Art Festival!
We are very, very excited for the Art Festival this year! Last year was an absolute blast, and this year we're looking forward to a greatly improved booth, plus a load of new furry friends!
Make sure to save the date so you don't miss any of the fun contests or festivities going on at the Beast Peddler booth this year! It's going to be a full-on Beast Party!
Hagatha won't be joining us this year, but the enchanted cottage is already filling up with beasts who are raring to go.

Also, if anyone is interested, I might be printing up some t-shirts soon!
They'll have this little Ouija-esque design on them, on black t-shirts or maybe tote bags. Hagatha and I are all about the Ouija boards, and if you are too, leave us a comment and let us know!

Anyway, that's all the excitement for now. Stay posted for more frequent blog posts to meet some new furry friends!

Beast Peddler & Hagatha
