Hi everyone!

So, as you have no doubt noticed, the blog has been horribly neglected as of late. I underestimated how busy I would be this month! Lots and lots of custom beasts have been going out. I hope that you're all doing lots of spooky stuff for October! I've got a load of raffle tickets to hand-stitch and send out, so entertain yourselves with this little creepy playlist!

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

Alternately, you could just listen to the album Fur and Gold from Bat for Lashes, because every song on it is dreadfully wonderful.

I promise I'll try and bring you all some more Hallow-Birthday-Ween goodies soon.
Keep it creepy!

Hello friends!

Today's Halloween goodness is the Skeleton Dance from Disney. My sister and I used to watch this all the time back in the old country, whether it was October or not! On VHS to boot!

Probably my favorite thing Disney has ever done. I showed it to the beasts and they keep playing it over and over, drumming on each others' vertebrae and all the table lamps.

Enjoy!

But they will have my signature on the front, as well as what number your ticket is!

The raffle will be held on our birthday, November 6th, so hang on to those tickies!

Also, meet our first celebratory HBW beast, Phillip Olivier Pumpkinnamon!

SO CUTE :D
Origin story? Yes:
On the eve of HallowBirthdayWeen, the Beast Peddler was feeling particularly spooky. The wind was blowing outside, Ghostbusters was on the television, and it was almost October first. What could she have possibly sewn but a little pumpkin beast? Nestled on the couch with Hagatha on one side and the smaller beasts cozied up in any cranny they could find, she sewed carefully, folding the little crooked smile and pushing stuffing into his tiny legs. When she was done, the Beast Peddler handed the small, plump beast to Hagatha, but the great beast shook her head.
"Not tonight," Hagatha said quietly. "The spirit of Halloween itself will bring him to life. Be patient, you'll see."
So the Beast Peddler sat quietly with Phillip in her lap, watching Ghostbusters and listening to her family of creatures discuss their plans for the HallowBirthdayWeen party while the almost-October wind blew outside. Suddenly, all the beasts looked up at the window all at once. A cloud passed over the moon and shrouded them in darkness. A moment later, when the room was illuminated again, Phillip Olivier Pumpkinnamon was looking up at the moon as well.
In a small voice, he cleared his throat and asked a question.

"Am I invited to the party?"

Of course you are , Phillip!
Have a great night everyone!!

That's right dearies, we're back with the biggest event in peddlin' history!

HALLOW-BIRTHDAY-WEEN!

What on earth is that? Well, it's the combination of our favorite holiday and our first birthday!
Of course this calls for a party, but instead of throwing two parties, we're throwing one big party. A party that is over a month long.
You read it correctly! A party that starts on October 1st and ends on November 6th, our birthday, with a massive party picnic and a surprise guest!

You too can join in on the Hallow-Birthday-Ween fun! All month we'll have downloads, free goodies, and other nonsense going on. Plus, we're having a raffle! Starting soon, you'll be able to purchase a comic about the party for $2 from our Etsy store. Included in the comic will be an invitation/ticket to the party! These will be numbered, and on the 6th we'll draw a number out of our cauldron. The winner will get a box of goodies that'll make them feel as if they had been with us the whole time :)

So stay tuned, keep your minds open, and stay in the light!

Hello dearies!
This is a big post, so get situated :D

The Beast Peddler here, with a late update. Remember we had been seeing a big monster prowling around the place? Well, we finally got some pictures of it, and I completely forgot to post them:

The Tale of the Ryrivig:

In the normally-pleasant woods that surround the enchanted cottage home of the Beast Peddler and her furred friends, unnatural howls and shrieks were heard at night. While the Beast Peddler tried to keep the young beasts calm, Hagatha squinted out into the darkness through a bone hoop, trying to see what was making the noise. She kept watch for hours, searching the night for any sign of the monster, but to no avail. The inhabitants of the cottage settled down to an uneasy night's sleep.
The next day, everyone was tired and on edge. None of the beasts would play outside, and all kept weary eyes on the windows. Hagatha wouldn't leave her room, poring over books and scrolls and communing with spirits to try and learn the creature's identity.
As the sunlight started to wane, Hagatha burst forth from her room, holding in her hands the ghost of a raven. The beasts all gathered around the hearth as he spoke-
"Those cries you hear at night are those of the Ryrivig- one of the Horrors of the Night. The Ryrivig howls and screams into the night to draw the foolishly brave out of their homes and into the night, where it devours them. There are many of the Horrors- before now, they used to lie in wait in the dark spaces of caves, the hollow knots of trees, and under the ground in the middle of mushroom rings. The sheer amount of magic that surrounds the cottage has drawn them out of the ground and out of their dark slumber. And now they're coming to find what has woken them..."

Also, meet the plumpest beast yet, Plumpus St.Baudelaire:

The Tale of Plumpus:

Plumpus St.Baudelaire is always going on about something. One minute he's trying to convince you of the health benefits of yerba mate, the next he's listing off all the reasons why one episode of Ghost Hunters is better than another. At breakfast he'll be listing everything he's going to do that day, and at lunch he'll be reciting "Oh Captain, My Captain." He especially loves sitting on the bottom shelf of the bookcase, where he can be particularly oratory and it takes everyone a while to find him.
Plumpus' constant narration would normally be extremely irritating, as one would imagine, if it wasn't for his splendid baritone. Much like Morgan Freeman or Mike Roe, he could talk about anything and you would be completely entranced. The other beasts will sometimes gather around just to hear him recite his shopping list, or the daily count of how many sparrows there were in the bird bath.
Once you get him home, he'll be pretty shy. That is, until you ask him what he wants for dinner...

Also, it may be of interest that in the past month we here at the enchanted cottage have only been playing one song, and it is The Afterlife by YACHT
Enjoy!!
